Georgia Culture Keepers Speak Out Against GA (2020) House Bill 906

A community of culture keepers throughout the State of Georgia are speaking out against Georgia House Bill 906. Atlanta’s Hammond’s House Museum shared the following statement on their Instagram page:

Georgia Sea Island resident, Helen Ladson, expressed the following:

It’s been like 22 years since. I already signed the petition and sent the letters. I just had to feel you. Taste you. Smell you. Sapelo, you beautiful, beautiful jewel. I didn’t know your worth 22 years ago. Today tho, as a grown woman, I see you with new eyes, I still feel you from my feet, I smell your salty sweetness. I shall fight for you.
